Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) – Bilingual Preferred

Location: Leesburg, VA
Job Type: Full-Time

Overview
Loudoun Serenity House is seeking a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (cPRS) to provide peer-based recovery support to individuals with substance use and alcohol use disorders.
​
This position plays a vital role across our Recovery Community Center, recovery residences, and non-profit partner sites - supporting individuals in all stages of recovery. The cPRS will use their lived experience to build trust, foster connection, and help participants navigate their recovery journey with dignity and purpose.
Key Responsibilities

Provide trauma-informed peer support and individualized recovery coaching

Facilitate peer-led groups and provide one-on-one support

Assist participants in developing and maintaining personalized recovery plans

Support individuals in navigating community resources, including housing, employment, healthcare, and treatment services

Respond to individuals in crisis and connect them to appropriate services and supports

Conduct participant intakes and maintain ongoing engagement

Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with organizational and confidentiality standards

Important Role Focus
This role includes working with both men and women, with a strong focus on supporting women in trauma-informed environments. Responsibilities may include outreach and engagement within community partner settings that serve women exclusively.

Candidates should be comfortable creating safe, supportive, and empowering spaces for women, including those who have experienced trauma such as domestic violence.
Requirements

Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (cPRS)

Lived experience in recovery with demonstrated stability
-
Experience working with individuals with substance use disorder (SUD)

Knowledge of recovery pathways, peer support principles, and community resources

Ability to maintain professional boundaries and uphold strict confidentiality

Valid driver’s license and registered vehicle to travel to local non-profit partner sites. Travel expenses will be reimbursed.

Flexibility to occasionally work evenings and weekends to cover special events and meetings

Preferred Qualifications

Bilingual (Spanish strongly preferred)

Experience in trauma-informed care and/or working with survivors of domestic violence

Experience supporting justice-involved populations
